READING IN PLACE

Reading in Place is Signal Fire’s destination book club: a guided discussion led by local artists, musicians, writers, activists, and scientists. Our Reading in Place hikes offer the opportunity to learn about social justice and ecological issues, meet new people, get out into the wild, and experience a taste of Signal Fire’s backcountry trips within the comfort of a day hike format. Prior to the date, participants receive a short PDF reading for discussion. Hikes leave from a central (urban) location and typically easy or moderate, under 5 miles long. Guides will help coordinate carpools and provide some snacks. Participants are asked to bring lunch, water, and basic hiking gear.

2020 Reading in Place hikes will be geographically diverse and will feature short texts based on our theme Rise from the Rot. Join our email list to be among the first to learn when we announce the schedule.
